The One White House Correspondents' Dinner Dress That Defined 2005 Is Prom Goals

It's no secret that The White House Correspondent's Dinner, otherwise known as "nerd prom," is a night where brains and beauty collide to become one of the most fashionable nights of the year. There is always one dress that stands out among the crowd, so I thought it might be fun to look back at one of the event's best fashion moments, aka the one dress that defined the 2005 WHCD.

Canadian actress and author Evangeline Lilly, who is perhaps most well-known for her role as Kate Austen in the ABC series Lost, wore a Disney Princess-worthy Betsy Johnson dress — aka, every early '00s teenager's dream prom look — on the red carpet for the event in 2005. The gown was a pink and white knee-length dress with a strapless neckline, with a full skirt and cinched in waist that accentuated Lilly's figure by creating the appearance of an hourglass. By keeping her hair simple, Lilly allowed the dress she wore to stand out and reach its full potential.

If you're a fan of Lost, this dress is basically the opposite of what we're used to seeing Lilly wear, as her ex-fugitive character Kate on the show tended to stick to boyfriend jeans and fitted t-shirts. Since she already received Golden Globe nominations for her role in Lost, it's time to give this dress the appreciation it deserves as well.

In case you missed it, take a look.
